Marbleized Silver Earrings
Presented are a pair of pierced dangling earrings which I believe to be from the turn of the century. They are unmarked but the metal appears to be sterling due to the patina. The ear wires are of a larger gauge compared to what we see today, indicative of the Victorian era. The marbleized oval drops look like marble but I am not sure as the material feels light and warm to the touch. Perhaps a very early resin. The top of the stone is decorated with a crown type ornament with beads of silver going around with trimmed with twisted wire work. The same wire work design are above and below the bead work forming a tier effect. There are dangling clusters of beads that hang from the bottom of the stone with a larger bead at the very end. These earrings measure approximately 1 1/4" from the crown to the cluster tip and 1/2 at the widest point. They are in excellent condition for the age and I have chosen not to clean them due any antiquity they may have.
