Japanese Glass Mardi Gras Beads #136
Presented is a strand of Japanese glass Mardi Gras beads thrown from the floats of the parades during the 50's and 60's in New Orleans. I have several strands of this style. I am not sure why - perhaps because they were made in Japan and mass production was in full swing in that era. None the less, the essence of the great parades remains. Pictured beads have a zebra style pattern. The beads alternate between larger elongated four sided beads with rifts and smaller swirl style beads. There are copper spacers between all the beads. This stand length of the strand is adjustable (neck size permitting), as the last several beads have links for a dangle effect. The clasp is a simple brass colored hook with "Japan" printed on a side. Beads measure 15" from end to end - a relatively small choker. Condition is good. I recommend restringing. |
