Amulets, Talismans and Lucky Charms
During the Stone Age, there is evidence that cave dwellers possessed objects and materials to protect themselves from negative energy forces, and to promote good health and energy levels. During this age, materials used were stone, bark, bone, shell, herbs and the like. In modern culture, many objects are held sacred as amulets, talismans and lucky charms. The ankh, horseshoe, horns, ladybugs, crystals, pentagrams are to name but a few. Just go to your neighborhood bingo game, church, or baseball game to observe the many charms said to induce good luck. Oh, and let's not forget that penny found on some sidewalk just waiting to bless the one who picks it up. Even the sixpence placed inside the bride's shoe for good luck is to name merely a few observations of how the human spirit still clings to the belief that there is hope in symbolic matter. Perhaps in the great scheme of life's mystery it is the belief unto itself that provokes positive vibrations and the amulet being the psychic catalyst. Here's to good luck, health, and well-being.
